This is by no means ‘new’ news, but we wanted to voice a little gripe with Google’s encrypted search data (‘not provided’ is what you might be seeing in analytics and it accounts for the majority of your data…Frustrating). Social Media Summary March 2014
Ever since Facebook became accountable to shareholders, there has been an increase in how the network delivers a return on that investment. Organic reach has been reduced in the hope that posts are boosted with payment to FB. Web Pro News published an article stating where organic reach is at and where it might be headed. It’s not very pleasant reading.
And on the back of the above, Web Pro News also report on a major(ish) brand leaving Facebook.
We do not think for one minute it’s a ‘rats and sinking ship’ moment, but hopefully a wake up call to Facebook. Brands have invested a lot of time and money building their page content and fans and expect a better return. By that, we mean you should see organic reach increase again.
Social Fresh analyse different posts after the latest algorithm change and it’s not all doom and gloom. Video and image posts worked best in their case, so our advice would be to make sure the posts are image / video rich and will offer something of value to the user.
This does lead nicely on to an article in Social Media Today, which looks at the best Social Network for brand engagement (we’re not telling, go see!).
Twitter had a birthday in March – 8 years old. The growth during this time is just astounding. Mashable have a lovely video on this. Happy Birthday Twitter!
