Imagine relaxing in your lounge and being inside a shopping centre at the same time? We believe that with H+’s, Holus this really could be made a reality.
In the not too distant future, almost all technology we interact with will have some form of holographic interface. Maybe that future is imminently closer than we may think. H+ is an embryonic technology company currently working on developing a unique product they are calling the Holus (An interactive table top holographic display). H+ is paving the way for holographic technology to become reality with their unique design.
With over 289,000 USD already pledged on H+’s Kickstarter (that’s 239 thousand more than their goal!) there’s obviously a humongous appetite for holographic technology in the home.
This kind of technology is going to open up so many opportunities in so many areas. Could the Holus change the way we interact online? We theorise yes. On a basic and obvious level the Holus could be used for 3D real time communication with loved ones on the other side of the globe, but what about online shopping? Haven’t you ever been on amazon and wanted to really get a better perspective than just a 2D photo?
If the right organisations take this opportunity to sell their products in a new and intuitive way we could see eventually many online virtual holographic stores – walking down a holographic high street in fact! Imagine being able to log onto amazon and have a 3D image projected right onto your table top of anything you wanted to buy. Or you could log onto an online watch store and browse through all the various assortments of watches. See them virtually in front of you, rotate any item as you wish and get a good look of an item before you make your purchase. This is almost as big’a revolution as 3D printing.
There are so many possibilities within this technology.
With so much progression in the holographic world happening so fast, we can see in 5 years’ time maybe a device like the Holus progressing into something that no longer needs the four reflective panes to project images onto but instead a complete 3D visual projection on a table top that can track your motion and allow you to move and manipulate the images.
Exciting new technology with exciting possibilities, features and practical uses, we truly live in a brilliant time where this technology is possible.
